As the daughter of jewelers in Santa Monica, California, Rachelle had an early opportunity to develop and exercise her design sense, from
helping her parents out in the store to assisting her mother as she prepared for fashion shows which showcased the jewelry. Her mom noticed Rachelle’s interest in fashion and design and always encouraged her passion.
As an adult, Rachelle discovered another passion and became
a licensed psychotherapist in San Francisco. After many successful years in that profession, Rachelle became aware that her office space needed renewed energy. Her environment was no longer a reflection of who she was. She wanted a change. Her childhood passion for color, texture, dimension and design reawakened.
Rachelle became her own design consultant and her office interior
design project began. Interior paint colors were chosen. The dirty beige walls were painted a fresh, warm cream color. Gone were the metal blinds and in came the wood blinds. Inviting, comfortable furniture, soft lighting, art pieces, splashes of seasonal decor enlivened her space, and set the stage for a complete transformation.
Rachelle continuously heard from her clients, “It feels much more like you in here, and I feel more comfortable!” Rachelle experiences first hand how redesigning your work and home environments can dramatically change how we and others feel. Changing a room can change your life!
As a result of Rachelle’s personal experience, her interior design company easily and naturally evolved. She named the company Spirited Spaces Design Consultants, later renaming it Goodfriend Design Group. Friends, family and referrals began hiring her as their color consultant and to provide room design expertise for their residential and commercial spaces. Being guided by mentors and welcoming each opportunity that has come her way, Rachelle has been able to weave together her skills...reclaiming her longtime passion and intuition for design, style and function and years of experience working with others to lead rich, fulfilling lives.
Rachelle has since joined the creative team for an on-going HGTV series, “Get it Together.” The show focuses on couples who face challenges as they create living room designs, bathroom designs, kitchen designs, bedroom designs, home office interior design ..any residential interior that they share. Hosted by a Los Angeles interior designer, the series uses advice, “couple design compatibility tools” and other creative interior design input from Rachelle. She continues to receive attention in the press and media, most recently in the August 2008 issue of San Francisco magazine and appearances on View from the Bay. (Press/Media)
